Xenta - Tote bag (PDF pattern)

Size Guide

$8.00 USD $10.00 USD

The Xenta tote puts a spin on a basic tote bag, with dramatic interlocking box pleats. It’s a pattern puzzle designed to delight anyone who appreciates clever pleating techniques. You’ll feel so accomplished bringing the folds together. It’s easier than it looks, and so satisfying! Did we mention the pleated front is made out of only one pattern piece?
The rest of the bag is a simple design with rectangular side gussets. It comes complete with facings and linings, as well as an internal pocket, for a clean finish to the inside of the bag.
With the Xenta tote, adventurous sewing meets everyday practicality.

Note on straps: The lilac and pink sample has had its straps attached to the bag at the front and back, rather than going side to side as specified in the instructions. This was done to preserve the colour-blocking.

You can find our tutorial video on how to construct the pleats here.

Skill level

Xenta is labeled as an intermediate pattern, as the rectangle-based tote bag is perfect for a beginner, but the pleated front adds a bit of extra challenge. If you want an easy project, you can omit the pleated front and simply sew a classic plain tote.
